Top 10 Ways to Get Extra Money

During the recent economic downturn college students were among the worst-hit people. Many were forced to live from hand to mouth barely making enough to sustain them-self and since most of them have full time-tables it was impossible for them to work on a full-time job. So what is it that a college student can do to make few more bucks? Here are a few suggestions:

1) Sale cell phones:

Landlines and prepaid phones are cheap. Cell phone bills can run a person down, therefore lose the cell phone and start using the internet. There are hundreds of different VoIP soft-wares and social networking websites that allow you to communicate easily and effectively with your friends and family.

2) Sale your car:

Cars are high-maintenance creatures. They burden you down with loans, check-ups, parking tickets, parking fees and insurance fees. Try adopting a healthier lifestyle by walking or use the bus for regular commuting. If you desperately need a car then try getting an old one since it will attract lower insurance fees than a new one. If you have already acquired a car loan then try to get it refinanced. Since most organizations don’t refinance loans very easily, try using different methods to placate them, like asking a girl to call the bank instead of yourself or letting the bank understand your desperate situation.

3) No gym membership:

Gym memberships are one of the most useless things to have for a college student because they never have enough time to use this membership for what it’s worth. There are many other ways of getting the necessary exercise for example, joining a local soccer team or simply starting regular walks or jogs. Gym memberships usually charge you through electronic means so you cannot simply stop the payments unless you sever the membership.

4) Yard sale:

Most people have enough junk heaped around their place to earn them a small fortune. Get in touch with your family and friends and offer them your help in cleaning out their place of the junk stored up in their houses. You can charge a small percentage of the income from yard sales or offer to sell the items at local flea markets.

5) Sale your Books:

Sell your old books to students taking up the same courses as those you have already taken. You can make up almost 90 percent of the money you spent on the books in the first place. This is better than selling the books back to book stores.

6) Sell your old stuff:

As mentioned before, people tend to gather junk at their place over-time. Websites like eBay and Craigslist are prime locations for buyers looking to get cheap bargains for almost anything and everything so clear-out your room and start selling the junk.

7) Start tuitions:

Low GPA students are always looking for better coaching than what they get from their teachers so if you are good at one or more subjects, offer your services and target the low-scoring community. You can also reach out to team coaches and offer to tutor the athletes struggling with their studies.

8) Half your rent:

Try moving into shared rooms than renting a single-person room. The decrease in space will be a small price to pay for the added money you can save on the rent payments.

9) Part-time jobs:

Most institutes offer on-campus part-time jobs for struggling students so try getting one of those jobs. These jobs don’t burden your studies either since they are know that you might have to miss the shift sometimes to prepare for an exam, a paper or a project.

10) Forget credit cards and loans:

Credit cards are like loan sharks. They keep leading you on until you are throat-deep in debt and then pull the plug. Therefore, avoid credit cards at all cost. Also avoid getting loans of any kind because most people incur debt thinking they will be able to pay them off after graduation but that rarely happens since most fresh graduates get basic pay packages which cannot support loan pay-offs.

I make extra money for college by using the MyBookCart.com referral program. For every book buyback they get in the mail from my referral code, they pay me a 10% commission. They also mail me free flyers upon request that contain my referral code. I hang them around campus and wait to get paid. http://www.mybookcart.com
